Bridgetown (Barbados)
4/25/2022 7:00:00 PM

The island’s capital, Bridgetown, is one of the Caribbean's major free ports, bustling with activity. Trafalgar Square features the monument to Horatio Nelson. Facing the square are handsome structures of the House of Assembly and the Legislative buildings. George Washington worshipped at St. Michael’s Cathedral during the only trip he made outside of the United States. Housed in former British military prison buildings, the Barbados Museum is divided into various galleries that feature exhibits depicting the history of Barbados from the pre-Columbian period to modern times.
Built in 1816, Gun Hill Signal Station is the finest of several signal stations on the island. The white limestone lion behind the garrison is a well-known landmark. Barbados boasts excellent golf courses. A wide range of watersports is available at hotels and special watersports centers.

Carriacou is a place where visitors can get away from all distraction and simply relax. The waters around the island are turquoise and calm, which make for excellent swimming conditions. Divers will enjoy visiting the underwater "Magic Garden" with many reefs and underwater volcanic activity. Carriacou also boasts amazing snorkeling where you simply float, face down, and let the water carry you over the reef.  Carriacou’s always been a quiet, less touristy place for those who truly want a quiet place to relax.

Portsmouth gives access to the island of Dominica. Travel from Portsmouth into the island's exotic tropical interior - which soars to over 4000 feet and discover a wonderful environment of dense (and now protected) rainforest, rich flora and fauna, deep lakes, glittering waterfalls and fast-flowing rivers quite unlike any of its neighbours. Or visit Roseau, the other town on the island.

Barbuda is one of those very few islands in the Caribbean that remains--and probably will remain for some time--so undeveloped as to seem deserted at times. With the exception of the guests of the island's small number of accommodations, the population seems largely to consist of the graceful Fregata magnificens, or frigate bird. Barbuda's seemingly endless white and pink sand beaches are left to the peaceful wanderings of those lucky enough to visit here. Activities on Barbuda include beachcombing, fishing and hunting and, at the island's resorts, golf, tennis, snorkeling, diving, or simply soaking up the sun and the calm. Points of interest include the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, the noteworthy pink and white sand beaches, and an abundance of shipwrecks and beautiful reefs. Barbuda can be reached easily from Antigua, either by air (a 20-minute flight, twice daily) or by boat (in three hours).

Spanish Town is the second largest town in the Island of Virgin Gorda. It is located in the southern coast of the famous British Island. The vibe is relaxing and perfect for those looking to escape the stress of everyday life. There are a few bars and restaurants around Spanish Town, but what is favorited by many visitors is the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean. There are plenty of water activities to partake year long, especially in March when the crowds come in and the annual Spanish Town Fisherman’s Jamboree takes place for those who enjoy fishing.
